I cannot deploy this to laptop users in my department as their fans stay on at all times.

Please optimize. On a side note, thanks for the file transfer ability.

Ive got a brand new macbook pro, and never had a computer battery drain as fast as with skype for business open.

And thats without even using the app I dont see how this is not just bad programming.

I really believe that the issue should have been solved ages ago.

But here we are. Please Microsoft solve it because people rely on this particular app for their work.

It seems lavish (5-6) when I first start it and havent moved and Im doing nothing.

But when I move elsewhere in the building (close lid, walk to new room with probably different network access point, open lid) then it sometimes spins way up to 50-100 or more.

Ridiculous this isnt fixed after so many votes and comments.

Weve seen spikes like the above across our org for YEARS, especially during presentations.

Youll just hear your fans take off like helicopters out of the blue.

Additionally, weve noticed some of its buggy behaviour seems to correlate when you jump around on different netsproxiesvpn.

We do a lot of that in IT - especially when on outage calls.

Zoom seems to have the betterfastercheaper trifecta - but we cant always use it due to security concerns.

This is shocking for business software people actually pay for.

Totally unacceptable for such software but works for me to keep things calm.

If I exit Skype normally, this process still stays and eats up the CPU power.

I am about to write a service which kills this process automatically, because Microsoft seems to forget about this.

I also unchecked the sync between calendar and so on now to see if that helps even further.

Whenever the fan starts to spin loudly I go check the activity monitor and Skype is always 120-130 with everything else being single digits.

Once I quit Skype the fans slow back down and of course the energy impact goes away.

The battery went from 100 to 42 after 30 minutes of call, the laptop became uncomfortably hot.

What an absolute stain this software has been for so many years.
